{"id":302,"date":"2021-01-29T11:11:40","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T19:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caam.tech\/?p=302"},"modified":"2021-01-29T11:17:23","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T19:17:23","slug":"caamtech-synthesizes-new-psychedelic-toad-derivatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caam.tech\/caamtech-synthesizes-new-psychedelic-toad-derivatives\/","title":{"rendered":"CaaMTech Synthesizes New Psychedelic Toad Derivatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CaaMTech scientists continue to introduce new molecules to the known universe with their latest published academic work, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.iucr.org\/e\/issues\/2021\/02\/00\/yz2004\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2,5-Dimethylbufotenine and 2,5-dimethylbufotenidine: novel derivatives of natural tryptamines found in Bufo alvarius toads.<\/a>\u201d The work highlights CaaMTech\u2019s latest scientific contributions to an area recently brought into the mainstream by hit <em>Vice TV<\/em> documentarian, Hamilton Morris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamilton Morris kicks off the third season premiere of his hit <em>Vice TV<\/em> show, \u201cHamilton\u2019s Pharmacopeia,\u201d by summarizing the history of 5-MeO-DMT, beginning with the discovery that smoking <em>Bufo alvarius<\/em> toad secretions produces a powerful psychedelic experience. This experience has earned 5-MeO-DMT the nickname \u201cThe God Molecule.\u201d To spare the toads harm, Morris extols the importance of replacing the endangered <em>Bufo alvarius <\/em>toad\u2019s secretions with synthetic alternatives. He concludes by describing a laboratory synthesis of 5-MeO-DMT, which is believed to be the principal psychedelic compound in toad secretions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHamilton Morris illustrates the potential for synthetic, well-characterized compounds such as 5-MeO-DMT. But these ancient compounds are really just the starting point for psychedelic research,\u201d explained <a href=\"https:\/\/caam.tech\/team\/andrew-chadeayne\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"151\">Dr. Andrew Chadeayne<\/a>, CaaMTech CEO.&nbsp; \u201cMuch like cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms, toad secretions include multiple psychoactive compounds. CaaMTech has been the first to make synthetic derivatives, salts, crystalline forms, and combinations of many of these compounds, giving us the unique opportunity to study their pharmacology and how they could contribute to an \u2018Entourage Effect.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CaaMTech\u2019s research picks up where Hamilton Morris\u2019 story ends: by investigating the chemical differences between pure 5-MeO-DMT, it\u2019s derivatives, and natural <em>Bufo alvarius<\/em> toad secretions. <em>Bufo alvarius<\/em> toad secretions contain additional, closely related tryptamine compounds to 5-MeO-DMT, including bufotenin (5-HO-DMT) and bufotenidine (5-HO-TMT). These lesser-known compounds are psychoactive and contribute to the pharmacology of natural toad secretions, unquestionably differentiating the natural compositions from pure 5-MeO-DMT. Morris pointed out the need to research these lesser-studied components in his speech at the <a href=\"https:\/\/psychedelicreview.com\/hamilton-morris-on-5-meo-dmt-the-entourage-effect-and-protecting-toads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Bufo Alvarius Congress in 2019<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c&#8230;the only justifiable reason for milking toads right now, is to analyze the venom, figure out exactly what it contains, figure out how it changes seasonally.
